Burntwater Teec Nos Pos: A First Prize Winner at the 2008 Inter-tribal Ceremonial Rose Yazzie Rose Yazzie is the matriarch of a family of weavers who are collectively known as the Spider Rock Girls, a name which derives from Rose’s childhood home in Canyon de Chelly. In this rug, a First Prize winner in its category at this year’s Gallup Inter-tribal Ceremonial, Rose demonstrates both her weaving and design mastery. In her interpretation of the Teec Nos Pos design, she’s captured the classic dense design geometry of this pattern. She’s included prayer feathers, Valero stars and squash blossom motifs with meticulous outlining which required her to manipulate as many as 44 threads in each row of weaving, a factor which may have influenced the judges in the highly competitive Ceremonial event. Rose lives in Chinle, AZ with her extended family Length: 5′ Width: 4′ Price: $5000.00 Yarn: Burnham’s Trading Post #1 Dyes: Vegetal Please remember that there is a wide variation in the way monitors render color.
